Operation: Snake-Rising (Collecticon 2010)

VENUE:

Organized by Hobbiworx and PinoyToyKolektors (PTK), DMD (Dynamic Modular Diorama) was displayed last weekend October 2-3, 2010 at the Robinson’s Place Manila Mall (Philippines) in celebration of Collecticon 2010.

BUILD

This diorama changes display every three to four hours. It is the first of its kind in the Philippines for action figures (regardless of scale). We dubbed it as a “dynamic modular diorama” or DMD. In this case, it is called Dynamic Modular DOJO-rama.

Brought to you by the same team that came up with O: Shock and Awe, O: Killzone, O: Forced Entry, O: Gothic Serpent, O: Sidewinder Verde, O: Grayia Seize-r, and O: Ivory Blanket…the Philippines only local 3 3/4 (1:18) Joe online community..TS118

Inspired by oriental movies and ninja-themed displays, TS118 formed a group of volunteers, a collaboration done by 8-10 members (builders, pledgers/financiers, consultants, etc.)

Took 3 weekends of preparation and actual dio-work to complete (figures/structures/vehicles). Mostly done on Saturdays only. Dojo was done first in virtual 3D before being implemented for physical design.

FEATURES:

Dojo panels allowed the team to display it as U-shaped to show dojo interior, or in a straight line to simulate the dojo facade.
GI Joe customs in 25A body (Slice, Dice, Jinx DDP, unmasked SS & SE) plus hidden mickeys (Deadpool Sensei, Kakashi Sensei, Deathstroke, Rha’s Al Ghul, and a tribute to the legend…BRUCE LEE).

OPERATION: IVORY BLANKET, 9th TOYCON - June 19-20, 2010

Duke and General Philip Ray had no choice but to crashland the Phantom X-30 stealth fighter on the icy Siberian wilderness. Unknown to them, Cobra has anticipated the damaged fighter and contacted its Artic Terrordrome to deploy Snow Serpents and retrieve the Phantom's blackbox, containing crucial information that will lead to this terrorist group's demise. A massive squad of Artic Hiss race to the crash site...

Meanwhile along the icy cold blanket and mountainous terrain, G.I. Joe's counterpart; the Oktober Guard, is on a routine round. Col. Brekov wants to know what fiery demon fell from the sky, instructing his team to immediately disembark to another perilous adventure.

The G.I.joes, wounded and frozen can only watch as predators as wolves stalk nearer, unaware of Cobra tanks travelling in the snow, as well as its rival group, the Oktober guard approaches its the cold battlefield.

Will the Oktober guard be friend or foe? Would they able to face the tenacious number of Snow serpents? Will they all survive this icy Ivory Blanket?
